This challenging site sloped sharply downward off the roadway in a northern direction which created this house design brief. The existing cottage floor level was set approx. 1m below the roadway, we reused the existing footprint and created and upside-down two-level extension to the rear allowing the homeowners stunning views to the north, adding skylights to the south allowing sunlight to the living space and then creating a full height gable window and suntrap to the west.
